I drove deep into the remote Tek Tek Mountains of southeastern Turkey to reach one of the most important — and still largely unknown — archaeological sites in the world: Karahan Tepe. This 11,400-year-old site was built by hunter-gatherers long before farming existed, and fresh evidence suggests it may actually be older than Göbekli Tepe. Inside this video, I share what I discovered on the ground… including the brand-new 2025 find that’s turning heads — a T-shaped pillar with a carved human face. But there’s also a darker side to this story that I need to talk about. In my latest video, I head to Hastings on May Bank Holiday Monday for one of Britain’s most beautiful and ancient traditions — the Hastings Traditional Jack in the Green Festival. Also known to many as the Green Man Festival. While thousands of bikers roared into town for the famous May Day Run, I went in search of something older and deeper. The Jack in the Green is a towering figure made of fresh greenery, led through the historic Old Town by Morris dancers, Bogies, Black Sal and a sea of people dressed in green. It’s a living link to England’s past — a custom that dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries, nearly wiped out by Victorian disapproval, and brought back to life right here in Hastings in 1983. This isn’t just a quirky folk festival. It’s a powerful reminder of the heritage we’re in danger of losing. When we change the character of our towns and cities too quickly, these ancient traditions don’t just fade — they disappear. The songs stop being sung. The green man stops walking the streets. And once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. I was in Hastings to understand the history, the revival, and to experience the incredible atmosphere on the day, and why events like this matter more than ever if we want to keep Britain’s soul alive. In this reflection, I stand in Lviv’s Field of Mars cemetery — the resting place of Ukraine’s bravest men and women who have given everything to defend their land and nation. I trace centuries of Ukrainian suffering and resistance: from Cossack uprisings, the partitions of Poland, Austrian and Russian rule, the Holodomor famine of the 1930s that killed millions, the UPA guerrilla war against both Nazis and Soviets in the 1940s, decades of Soviet suppression, the Maidan protests of 2013–14, the annexation of Crimea, the war in Donbas from 2014–2022, and the full-scale Russian invasion since February 24, 2022. I walk among the graves, showing the human cost: over 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed (some estimates far higher), tens of thousands of civilians dead, more than 15,000 civilian deaths verified by the United Nations (likely double the true number), 6 million internally displaced, another 6 million refugees scattered across Europe, half a trillion dollars in economic destruction, entire families shattered, children orphaned, communities broken. Yet these people had no choice. When the border was crossed, when the bombs fell, when the children screamed, they stood. Not for glory, not for politics — for home, for kin, for the right to wake up in a land that is theirs. While the graves multiply, distant profiteers count dividends from the war machine — selling shells, financing shells, weighing grief on spreadsheets. This is not a museum. This field is a ledger.
